St. John’s Wort And Medicines
St. John’s wort can speed up how the body clears many medicines, making them less effective, and can combine dangerously with serotonin-related drugs. Medicines of concern include antidepressants, blood thinners such as warfarin, hormonal contraceptives, and some heart, cancer, transplant and HIV treatments. The NCCIH has a detailed page on this herb.
Ginkgo And Bleeding
Ginkgo may increase bleeding risk. Talk to your doctor if you take aspirin, anticoagulants or similar medicines, have a bleeding disorder, or have surgery or dental work planned.
Huperzine-A
Huperzine-A affects acetylcholine, a nerve messenger. It carries cautions with some medicines, including certain heart-rate and bladder medicines. Ask a pharmacist to check your list.
